Towards Pavlovica bridge

Just as you enter Sremska Mitrovica coming from the highway or from Ruma, there's a large crossroads known as "Rumska malta". This crossroads is the best hitchhiking spot.

If you are coming from the direction of Bjelijna (in Bosnia) and reach this crossroads, take a left to Sremska Mitrovica. One kilometer away there's another traffic light, and a good hitchhiking spot.

If you're going from Bogatic to Belgrade or Novi Sad, it's best you take a road through Mitrovica on workdays. When there's not much traffic it's better to go through Sabac.

Towards the highway

From the town centre, head towards the exit in the direction of Novi Sad (just follow the main street). When you reach the circular road, take a left. You'll see an overpass, and when you walk past it, you'll see the highway. You can hitchhike in the third lane of the highway, though this is not recommendable since there's no road toll ramp nor any ideal place where a vehicle could stop. But there's always a chance someone'll give you a lift.
