Towards Belgrade
From the main bus station, head straight down Beogradska Street and hitchhike from just before the railroad overpass. There's also a nice hitchhiking spot right after the bus station. You can reach the bus station using bus no. 10. Towards Novi Sad
From the city center, get on the Oslobođenja Boulevard and ask someone about the road to Novi Sad. When you reach the end of the town, there's a wider part of the road right after the last traffic light, a good hitchhiking spot. You may see people hitchhiking there. Bus no. 10 goes all the way to the last traffic light. Towards Kikinda, Melenci
From the center, go to in the same direction as if you're going towards Novi Sad. You'll reach a crossroads where you can only go straight or left. Take a left, and you're in Žarka Zrenjanina street. You can hitchhike right at the bus stop there, but we recommend you head down the street and hitchhike from the next bus station. You can also reach this place taking the bus no. 3. Towards Vršac and Romania
From JNA Square go to the Miletić Street, which is the beginning of the road to Timisoara. Just pick any of the bus no. 4 stops and hitchhike from the stop. For hitchhiking to Romania, the procedure is the same as for Vršac, so you need a sign saying where you're going. Or you can go down the street all the way to the Dijamant factory, cross the street and hitchhike just after the crossroads where the road branches off. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since spring 2007, there's been a new roundabout around Zrenjanin, that connects, on one side, the roads to Novi Sad, Kikinda and Vršac, and, on the other side, the roads to Belgrade, Kikinda and Vršac (however confusing that may sound). If you hitchhike from Belgrade or Novi Sad towards Kikinda and Vršac, and you hitch a ride only to Zrenjanin, it's best to get off the car at the beginning of the roundabout, and hitchhike from there. Same goes for the other directions. --- If you have a comment or more accurate information, click here For more detailed discussion, visit our forum
