Southwestern Serbia

Southwestern Serbia is home to some of the oldest historical monuments in Serbia. Medieval monasteries have been preserved in such a way as if the last 800 years never happened. The fortress of Maglich, on top of a rocky hill, is the best preserved medieval fortress in Serbia. Potpecka cave, with a 50-meters tall entrance, offers a unique experience. The town of Novi Pazar with its mosques and narrow cobbled streets, is definitely a must-see. The Sargan Eight, an old narrow-gauge train ascending the Tara mountain, has been restored to a first-class tourist attraction.
